WE has one table feature that is important to me. You can use a key to navigate to first and last coluns, top and bottom rows. I can't speak for jfw but NVDA does not have this so fore me their table navigation is not up to par. If GW ever puts in automatic tables the ability to navigate to the edges must stay. Work with a ten column table with more than a couple rows in NVDA and you'll see what I mean. It's fair at best. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]>

FYI, out of the four text to speech programs I use for testing,
Window-Eyes is the only one that requires a specific key combination to
go into table mode. The others allow the use of the arrow keys and all
others as in just navigating in browse mode. Then when using the
cell/table navigation hotkeys they intuitively navigate the table
correctly. Window-Eyes does this in MS Word. I would like it if WE's
browse mode would work the same way. Let me navigate around and if I am
in a table I can use the insert+arrow keys or whatever table navigation
key I need. Window-Eyes should know that I am in a table and if not, it
can just say not within a table.

How about having 'T' within browse mode not only take you to a table but
turn on table mode? Hate to keep bringing up the lower-priced spread,
to
paraphrase the old Blue Bonnet ads, but the NVDA table mode is always
available, and that's very handy.

Of course the W.E. table reading has some more complex options, but the
option to turn it on when you arrive automatically would be great and
possibly not that hard to implement.
