Personally, I wouldn't mind ads, as they are commonly used in smart phone apps. If we want something for free, or a lower cost, that would be a compromise we would have to make.

Lets not lose sight of the fact that a lot of services are free to us and others, because they are paid for by advertising. They are not one time costs, they are continuous sources of revenue.

If GW Micro (any company will do, but mentioning GW Micro keeps this on topic (smile)) just has a one time cost for software I don't see how they can sustain providing that software or supporting it. Internet and cable service providers have monthly costs to bring the service to our homes and businesses. If they just charged us the one time cost to bring us those services, I suspect that Internet access might cease to exist for those providers offering the one cost deal. We saw this happen several years back with gyms offering life-time memberships. None of those are still operating today.
