You can not change the synthesizer reading the book. You only get male, and
female voices from Sapi. Dectalk or eloquence won't read the books. Braill
as far as I know is not supported.

Subject: W.E. and Kindle for PC
Hi,
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I appreciate the help I received
from you who answered my question regarding reading books with Kindle PC.
I finally downloaded the Kindle for PC app and installed it. WindowEyes
will read the menus if I use the alt key to open the menu and then use the
left and right arrows and up and down arrows to navigate them. But when I
press control R to read a Kindle book, these awful Sapi voices read it
instead of my default synthesizer, DecTalk. Is WindowEyes reading the book
or is some other screenreading software taking over? I can't stand Sapi
voices! Can I read the book using my BrailleEdge? Does the PC version of
Kindle support brailleback? Can I get rid of the Sapi voices and use
DecTalk instead?
I listened to part of a podcast which confused me even more. The woman
said the voices were Nuance speech and they were called Tom and Samantha.
But I read somewhere else that the voices for the Kindle for PC were Anna
and somebody else--can't remember his name. The description for the
accessibility of the Kindle stated the voices were naturally-speaking
Ivona.
What's the deal? The voices on the podcast sound a little better than the
Sapi voices, but I wouldn't want to listen to books read by them. Does
anyone know what the voices in the Kindle Fire Hd and Hdx sound like?
Too bad they didn't use the Neospeech voices used in the BookSense! Paul
and Kate are the most human-sounding voices I've ever heard!
I would appreciate it if someone could clear up my confusion. If I can't
use my W.E. default voices, then how can I use braille? So far, the PC
version of Kindle is extremely disappointing!
