That's the right way to do it, but I've noticed if the window is not maximized, then it sometimes won't read this way properly; so my suggestion is to try maximizing the window.
If you find you frequently forget to maximize a window, try the "Window Manager" app from GW; it can be set to automatically maximize a specific program's window for you.
