Hi Max,

I'm afraid this choice doesn't do what you think it does. Some time back
(perhaps it was with the release with WE 7.5), the format of .set files
changed internally, to allow many more options to be saved. This menu
choice of "Update Outdated Settings" only converts the file formats of your
..set files on your WE profile, which happen to be in the older format.

What you want, is the "Factory Settings" menu item in the same "file" menu
of WE. This will show you, one by one, if GW has released a newer factory
set file for any applications you have .set files for. If a .set file is
shown to be out of update, you have the option to update it, and it asks you
about merging or replacing several associated files.

Hth,

Chip

Subject: Updating Set Files

Even in this age of apps, set files do quite a bit for us; so whenever the
need to update them comes up as in the Sept. 18th GW Digest, I go over to
the W.E. file menu.

I always get the same report: Two files processed, no files converted.
Does this mean nothing neded to be updated?

I assume updated sets were supplied with W.E. 8.4, though have not gone
thru the whole procedure of checking and unchecking certain ones as in the
past. IS there more to be done with these .000 files for a smooth W.E.
experience?
