Hi, Solomon,

I'll give you my thoughts in this message; then if you want to discuss the
matter further, we should do it off-list because we would be more into
recording than in Window-Eyes issues.

There are two possibilities I will mention, although I do not know from
experience how well they will work for what you want: I believe Audacity.com
can do multitrack recordings; you might also check at GoldWave.com. I saw
something up there called Multiquence or something like that. You could
probably send an E-Mail message to them stating what you want to do, and they
would tell you whether they have software that will meet some or all of your
needs.

I suspect that you have heard of the program called GoldWave.com. It has a MIX
function, but I doubt that it will do what you want - at least not easily. It
works pretty well with Window-Eyes and Windows XP; but as I understand that
software, you would have to do some fancy "knobbin'" around with recording,
cutting to clipboard, and mixing the clipboard with another track you record.
You'd have to use a metronome or drum machine as a guide to even have a chance
to line up the tracks. Simple answer: I wouldn't do it that way!

Actually, for what it is worth, I have been doing multitrack recordings for
several years; and I made a critical decision early in that game - and you
might not like it: I bought a dedicated multitrack recorder (a Fostex MR8-HD,
which sadly is probably not available anymore). But here is WHY I made that
decision: I wanted to get loose from Microsoft's minefield of viruses,
vulnerabilities, spyware, and SPAM - and - ah yes - ADware! I also didn't want
to hassle with myriad updates and occasional system crashes! The above
probably brands me as an "old fuddyduddy" and maybe I qualify there at my age
of 69. Anyhow, I have a multitrack recording system totally divorced from
Microsoft and Internet. I take my finished recordings into a PlexTalk recorder
in wave mode, then copy the songs to a USB drive, SD card, external hard-drive,
and - well OK, I do put a copy of each finished song on a Network Additional
Storage (NAS) box. But the point is, I don't have to worry about pop-ups or
any of that junk coming in while I am recording a song.

You'd have to do a bit of exploring in the marketplace to find out what device
you could buy nowadays which would be at least reasonably accessible for the
functions you want. My Fostex unit is not totally accessible; but I can
operate without sight all of the functions I try to use.
