I'm not going to uninstall gw connect. The access to the latest version of skype is good, but I don't think it's as good in all respects as the access to gw connect, so i'm going to keep them both opn my system.

Thanks for the advice. I'm also going to uninstall GW Connect. Hopefully
more and more people will do it.

Regards

I'm seeing this too. Seems like every time the GW guys go on extended
vacation or even over a long weekend, something goes a bit wonky. I'm
not sure if that's the case here but I've since uninstalled GW connect
and have gone back to the official Skype program. GW included a Skype
app in 8.4.0 so hopefully that should make things as easy to use as GW
connect is. I just couldn't stand the adds, sorry y'all. I mean I'm
already a window-eyes user, lol!

Hi everyone,

I am a registered Window-Eyes user and, suddenly last night, I got an
ad telling me to upgrade to Window-Eyes, as though I wasn't a
Window-Eyes user. When I opened the About box on the Help menu, I
appear to be running in Sponsored mode. I know others on the list
have experienced something like this, and I was wondering how they
fixed it, if they did.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit, have checked my Windows firewall with
advanced security incoming rules, and have allowed access to
gwconnect.exe and gwskypekit.exe on all networks and all protocols. I
am not running anything except Microsoft Security Essentials and the
built-in Windows 7 firewall.

I can't think of anything else which might be interfering with the
program, especially since this is a new experience with the program
after years of using it.

Thanks,

Rod
