I have to agree with Rod on this one; you can just define the hotkey for appGet to be something else, or even "undefined", and use it from the menu as he outlines.
appGet has several advantages: it shows you ratings and comments, and it allows you to easily filter out non-english apps. I admit many of the categories make no sense to me, and I wish GW would start over with those, but I know I don't want to look at games, and you may know you don't want to look at app development or programming, so when checking to see what's new, they can be of some help in showing you only those you are interested in. You can also add your own ratings and comments, and if more people would do this, the appGet would be of much more help to users who don't know if they should get an app or not. Especially if it's known to cause problems, it's nice to have someone detail those problems in the comments. GW: the delete comment feature does not work, and you don't allow the author of an app to add a comment, so there's no way to answer or remove a comment if the issue has been resolved! The easiest way to access AppGet is to open the Window-Eyes control panel, press Alt-A to open the App menu, pressA twice to focus the AppGet app option, and then press Enter twice to run AppGet. By the way, if you want to search for apps using AppGet, just press Control-F to initiate a find in the main AppGet Window. AppGet works well enough for me. hth, Rod On 12/28/13 7:21 AM, Carol and Roger wrote: I got tired of this happening, so I disabled the App Get app and I use the Install Packages app instead. Whenever I want to type into an edit box on IE, it happened quite often. Since I have stopped the App Get app, I have not had the problem. By the way, the problem did not happen all of the time, but it would happen enough to be frustrating, and I would never know when it was going to. Sometimes, closing out WE would help, but more often than not, I would need to restart my computer. As an aside, I like the Install Packages app better because I do not have to guess at categories for the app I would like to install. They are all listed alphabetically in a list for easy choosing. This would be a great option for the App Get app, if anyone would like to consider making this an option. The problem is: whenever I hit the letter g on my keyboard I get a popup screen that says "get apps". I cancel the screen and the next time I hit the letter g it comes back. This happens repeatedly. Questions: 1. Why is this happening? 2. Have I pick up a virous of some sort? 3. Could this be a part of WindowEyes updates or some other program or problem? 4. How do I determine the source of this "get apps"? 5. How might I get rid of it or turn it off? Grandpa DOS will be forever grateful for a solution to this issue!
