I am not sure whether I am "on target" concerning the copying of a table while in Windows XP and I E 8, but I have experienced one problem which sometimes "rears its ugly head" in routing the mouse pointer *RELIABLY* (that's the KEY WORD) to the point where the real cursor is sitting. In a significant number of instances in which I have tried to route the mouse pointer to a "link" which I could not "click" by pressing ENTER, the mouse did not *really* go there. Thus when I did the left click emulation, I got the kind of result which looks to me like unto what you describe here. Yes, in a few cases, I have actually had Window-Eyes say "Desktop" after I did the left click.
OK, I admit that I am a novice on tables, but I hope that other listers can clarify a bit more what I am getting at. Let us remember that the keypad controls are "mouse emulation" controls. GW-Micro has done a damned good job at making the emulation work as well as it does; but as more "funny things" happen in JAVAscript and other programming languages, I believe we will find more of these situations where the mouse emulation - especially the left click - doesn't quite make it. Please forgive me if I show my "novice status" on tables again; but in the instructions you have, I didn't see anything that tells you to highlight the table - or what if it were only part of the table you wanted. If you do the Control-C at the top of the table, how does WE or XP know how much you really want to copy? That's enough from me, the "novice knobman". I will be very interested in comments from other listers on this one; I know that I have a lot to learn! ----- Original Message ----- From: Ted Larson To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, January 08, 2014 9:10 PM Subject: copying table--what am I doing wrong? Dear List: I am using windows xp and internet explorer 8. The directions I have for copying a table and preserve the tabular lay-out tell me to do the following: Go to the beginning of the table. I did that. I did not go into table mode. Then it said to turn off browse mode, so I did. Then, I am to rout the mouse to the cursor with the insert-numpad plus. I did that and window-eyes said pointer routed to element. Now, it said to left click. After hitting the left mouse button, window-eyes says desktop. After the left click, it said to do the control-c to copy. So, something is wrong with my instructions that takes me to the desktop. What I was doing was going to maps.com and then clicking on the link called driving directions. Then after putting in my beginning and ending address, it gave me the results back in a table from which I was going to copy and send to someone. Please let me know what is wrong with my instructions. Thanks. Regards: Ted Larson If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
