Hi Rick,

My quick fix is to use Alt-Shift-M to toggle the browse mode refresh to Suspend Off and save this as the default setting globally, and since this is typically a global setting it works for every html application. I've been told countless times on this list that this isn't necessary, but it is for me. This is because Window-Eyes hangs if web pages want to load but they are being prevented from doing so.

Also, if you create a desktop shortcut with this in the command line, you can kill IE if speech dies while using it:

%windir%\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im iexplore.exe

Assign it a shortcut so you can execute it blind. It works pretty well to get you unstuck.

hth,

Rod

Hi: WindowEyes again just locked up during a BootUp.
This is a similar situation to when it locks up during some editing which happens far less freequently but in both cases the symptoms seem the same. When I hard shut down the computer a message popped up saying WindowEyes was not responding and I had to click a button to continue the shutdown. Since I had no keyboard access while WE was locking things up I pressed the button on the computer and held it in until I forced it to turn off. Just a note, WindowEyes was not responding so it was locked up during BootUp which does happen very often. I notice it happens after I have been working in Outlook Express or using Internet to work on the web but not when I have been working in a simple text editor like NotePad or working in files and folders using the basic Windows Operating system features. So, perhaps this will help narrow down the problem since I get it very often if I dont open and then close a Windows Folder or NotePad file after working on the Internet or after working in Outlook Express and then shut down the computer - it shuts down usually but will lock up during the ReBoot. Someone said there was a problem with WindowEyes and how it uses MSA or UIA, I forget, which would seem to be a bugg but I run Windows XP and IE8 so my system is so old I can have no gripes except it has happened for over a year now and from some messages on list it looks like it is still a problem with newer versions as well. Perhaps a script or something can fix it, there are some pretty good scripters on the scripting list.
