Go to Keyboard, Special keys. If it's not there, Alt-H and then V to
show advanced options. As you tab down through the options F1 will tell
you what each one does when you're on the choice.
And regarding F2 to edit a file? I don't know what you're talking about,
unless it's F2 in Windows Explorer to edit a file name. And I'm not sure
what you mean when you say WE isn't reading character by character either.
