I am using xp. I am using a Logitech MK520 external keyboard. And, even a day
should solve the issue. My thing is, i don't want to play around with the
restore much and make the problem worse.

Two possibilities suggest themselves: either you didn't go back far enough
in time, or are you perhaps using a different keyboard. Which OS are you using?
