One reason I can see paying for the upgrade is if you have Window-Eyes on more than one computer. Have you ever tried to figure out how many computers your version of Office can run on? I also have Office 2007 and can't upgrade to 2010 any more and am not all that quick to jump to 2013 for my purposes. I'll have to at some point, but I'm not in a hurry to do so.
