Hi listers
Been listening to the townhall meeting, Getting Started and other Webinars archived on the GwMicro Webinar page, and it really excites me the new GwMicro/Office Initiative: I would have really loved this kind of initiative back in November of 96, when my family first bought a computer; in school I'd think wow too bad I can't go home and debut the computer researching for this and this, not being able to use Encarta independently and other activities, thus I felt left out of not being able to explore the new family PC which in that time ran Windows95. And yes in the long run but not with the family computer, I managed to entered the computer world, but anyway back to my perspective, it excites me that no blind sons/daughters, like it happened to me, when the family buys a new computer, will no longer be left out of the excitement! This brings me to my wondering if X or Y were to buy a personal computer, how would the average person know of the WindowEyes/Office global Initiative? In the future, will this info be made available on the computer instructions? Will the computer vendor know to tell the blind child of this fact that by installing Windoweyes as long as Office is installed, they'll have a talking accessible PC? How will the parent know to tell the blind child if you do this, the Pc will talk, or the blind child know OKif I install WindowEyes since Office is already installed, I'll have a talking computer with Windoweyes, thus I'll be able to get into the excitement with the fafmilythus entering the computer world. At least for me, this global Initiative makes me relief of if someday Ibuy a Windows8 Laptop, I can come home, and install windowEyes, but how will others know of this fact? I'd like to help out in any way I can in letting blind people here in my country and the rest of Latinamerica know of this initiative, but how? On my blog, TuImagina, wghich talks about how technology benefits us, I did a post along with audio on my first impressions on WindowEyes, an yes I plan to do more as I become more familiar: Blog Tecnología y algo más en http://tuimagina.wordpress.com in case anyone understand enough Spanish to take advantage of the audio. Any of you done any English audios? With more spreading of word, especially because of the instant things get known online, the more blind kids get included in the fun when the family gets a new computer. How's the idea?
