Same here regarding Windows 8. I am using Windows 7 until this laptop
dies then it's all Apple and use Windows on my mac.

This makes perfect sense. I personally think that the office deal is just a
trial run and Window eyes is going to be merged into Windows soon. Let’s face
it, MS has never been good at making screen readers up until now, so wouldn’t
be great to let someone else do it, and just pay them a little bit of money and
I think it will be window eyes and GW. I know nothing, but this makes sense.

The thing that really gets me about this is that, beyond how easy it is to find
the true information in multiple places on the web, it just doesn’t make sense.
I mean, think about it. Hmmm, I think it would be a great idea if we were to
provide a free screen reader for Office, but I think we will make it only work
in Office and nowhere else, thus making it difficult or impossible for users to
get Windows going and Office up and running since there is no speech outside of
Office. This makes perfect sense. So, then the next round of misinformation is
that it will work outside of Office, but only to navigate around Windows
functions. This also makes so much sense. GW Micro would have to actually put
development time and effort into alterations to the free version to lock out
functionality in other applications. They would have to use up time and money
to make a purposeful effort to lock the screen reader into such limited
functionality. This concept just makes so much sense. I mean
, just use a little bit of logic. The partnership with MS includes income for
GW Micro so that they can continue to make a good enough profit on the free
version to stay in business and keep up development. I would not be surprised
if the deal actually is one that will increase their development resources. It
would be completely counterproductive to waste resources on creating a locked
down free version. All that is not included is services and extras that are not
required to make full use of the screen reader and purchasing those extras
still will leave users who want them far ahead of the full retail price.

Well, now whoever spread this misinformation about Window-eyes only functioning
with Ms Office needs to relisten to and reread the information that Gw Micro
released clearly explaining the partnership with Microsoft and the inclusion of
a fully functional version of Window-eyes. This misinformation is what I
consider to be an indirect slap in the face to Gw Micro. Do those who spread
this misinformation really believe that if Gw Micro so highly promoted the
partnership would release a version of Window-eyes only to fully function with
Ms Office? No way. Louis, I know you’re smart enough not to stick your foot
in your mouth in this situation, and besides, I don’t think a dirty foot would
taste too good, smile. I could write a lot more, but much of what I feel like
writing could get me removed from this list, smile.
