For some new programs like Firefox, hit ctrl-shift-W twice instead of once.
Window-Eyes uses a different method of reading those windows on the second
press, but sometimes it is too verbose. Use when necessary, such as in
Firefix. This change came in at about version 8.2, I think.

Subject: Firefox and About
I'm trying to find out what version of Foxfire I'm using, but with XP and WE
8.40 The About doesn't let me look at the screen. There's a ding when I go
to the top and try to go down and there's only one line when I go to the
bottom and try to go up. Tab gives me various links but all I want is the
version number. If someone would explain what I'm missing, I'd be grateful.
Thanks.
