Hi ted, I did add partial support for contractions lately, but it was still experimental so I did not add details about this into the help file (and actually I’m not sure if anybody use it). I plan on updating the help file for version 2.0 which also has support for more than one custom table. Anyway, I attach below the details I published about contracted braille and BrailleInput. Feel free to contact me off list if you are having trouble.
Hi all, I’ve added a new feature to the BrailleInput app that support contractions (not all contractions, just a few). It is still experimental. But if you want you can try it out and let me know if it works well. To toggle between standard and contracted input, press space d1 d4 and d7 at the same time. While in contracted input, the app still uses the translation table but overrides dots combinations which are defined as contractions rules. I only implemented contractions that: 1. Are represented by a single dots combination 2. Are not dependent on context 3. I remember (I’m not much of a contracted braille user, so please forgive me if I made mistakes) Below is the list of contractions implemented with the relevant dots combination. I downloaded the Braille input ap from ap central, but all I am getting in the braille table when I select it is symbols I don’t recognize. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thnks all.
