For our wiki (www.wiki.ilru.net), we use MediaWiki
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki

>From their website:

MediaWiki is a free software open source wiki package written in PHP ,
originally for use on Wikipedia . It is now also used by several other projects
of the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation and by many other wikis.

We like it. It's easy to use. Not easy to install. And, it's easy to hack, so
requires diligence.

Hi Robin and Dave,

Some time back GW ran its own wiki, primarily for use by app developers
(although anyone was welcome to write articles).

It was "hacked" and GW had to take it down, not having the support staff to
dedicate to a wiki.

I'd like to start recreating that wiki (I had authored many articles on the GW
one), but like Dave, don't know where to go for a free wiki service.

I'd appreciate it if anyone who solves Dave's question for him would also drop
me the same note.

Thanks.

I create and manage wiki pages here at work. We have a wiki application on our
network servers that looks very much like Wikipedia. I'm not really sure
what's available to you, but I'd be happy to help you with wiki text formatting
if you find a site to create your pages on.

Subject: wiki creation

Hi. Does anybody have any recommendations for wiki creation software or
something similar? I'm looking to organize my syllabus for an online course and
being able to connect pages together would be useful I think. I've never done
this sort of thing before. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dave C. Bahr
