Hi Marilyn,
In IE 11, when you hear the username suggestion and its index announced by Window-Eyes, a small drop down list is being displayed just below the edit box with all of the stored username suggestions. Pressing down arrow will highlight the first suggestion in the list, the one that was just announced by Window-Eyes. Pressing down arrow a second time will highlight the second suggestion if one exists and so on. The challenge is that Window-Eyes does not announce the suggestion that is highlighted in the drop down list when it is selected. So, you will need to first select the suggestion and review the text in the edit box to verify that the suggestion you selected is the correct one. There are two ways to select the highlighted option in the drop down list. Pressing Enter will select the highlighted item in the suggestion list and autocomplete the username text in the edit box. You can also press Tab to select the highlighted suggestion and the username will be autocompleted and your focus will move to the next edit box (i.e. password edit box). Please note that the Auto Complete app for Window-Eyes only works in supported combo edit boxes such as in the Run dialog Open combo edit box or in the File Name combo edit box found in open and save file dialogs. On a related note, I found that Window-Eyes does read the highlighted suggestions when working in Firefox 28. This is another example that demonstrates that not all web browsers are created equal and it can be helpful to have access to both browsers so you can use the best tool for the specific task at hand. All my testing was done on a Windows 8.1 PC. Regards, Marc From: M and L Dorn <[email protected]> Subject: Auto Complete Suggestions again Date: Mon, Apr 7, 2014 5:21:42 am Ok, I'm going to try explaining this again from scratch. Nothing I've been told to do works as described. I'd sure appreciate if someone on the GW staff would give an answer here, as apparently we users just don't know. I appreciate all the emails from those who have tried to help, but it still doesn't work. When I am in I E 11 and on the BARD site, for example, I hit Enter to get out of browse mode and start typing my user ID, which is my email address. I can type as far as "mari" and then hear "mari marilyn 5 suggestions." I have tried down arrow, alt-down arrow, and insert-down arrow. I hear the same thing over and over again. I am not taken to a list of suggestions from which to choose. If I hit Enter without finishing the typing of the email address, I get an error; because the partial email address was what was entered and not some suggestion given by the app. If I have to finish typing the email address myself, which I've been doing to make it work of course, then what is the point of the suggestions? Does this thing actually work, or is it just jabbering I don't need? I repeat, none of the instructions for how this is SUPPOSED to work does anything except chatter un-useful info repeatedly. Please, GW Micro staff, let several of us with this same issue know what to do here. Either tell us how it really works, how to make it work if we're doing something wrong, or to get rid of some app if it simply does not work. Thanks!
