OK you guys,
I know the net is full of suggestions, that MS Essentials is going to support XP for another 15 months or so. But here is the news for you.

Running an XP machine right now, whenever the machine is started, MS Essentials pops up a message, telling a different story. It tells that support for this system will soon be dropped. Likewise, when I try to run a virus scan, the screen is filled with a "warning" that support is going to be dropped.

Checking through some of the recent updates installed from Microsoft on this computer, I see a certain update that says something about support warning. To what degree this could be removed, and then I would get rid of the anoying messages about dropped support, I have not had time to test.

Well, I dare guess, that I am not the only one receiving this message. Strange thing for MS to anoy their users with such a message, if they actually intend to keep updating the virus database for yet another 15 months. For some reason, I have a feeling there is some rumors hanging around, and that MS just tries to push us over on more recent Windows. I am still struggling to find head and tail on the win8.1 machine here, and so are many others. :)
