The database is independent of the program. So you can update the database but not the program. Not sure how to help with the other query.

Hello Everyone,

I've been hearing that some people are having trouble with the latest
version of the free Malwarebytes. I have just run a check for updates and
got the latest version of the database. I don't know if that means I have
the latest version of the program, but it still functions just as it has
where I can tab to the scan button etc. Have they fixed the reported
problem or are people somehow using different versions.

I also have a client who keeps getting the trial version, even though she
carefully makes sure that checkbox is unchecked. She has uninstalled and
completely installed being very careful, but she keeps getting back to the
trial version. I assume there is something in the registry that says that
she started a trial period.
