Hi Max,
I'm running Windows 7, but, assuming similarity between versions of
Firefox on both, if you go to the Tools menu, arrow up to Options, press
Enter, navigate to the General tab, and tab to the When Firefox starts
combo box, set it to your home page, and pick a good one, like
Google.com. Then, press Enter, and restart Firefox. See if this makes
a difference.
hth,
Rod

Rather than opening "Startpage.com> W.E. now says, "Search Firefox."
There are lots of links and long number sequences; the word "Conduit" is
often spoken. Links can be tabbed to, but they're mostly nameless.
Am I somehow in the shadow world of Metro Apps? Did Bing Bar get onto the
system and ruin everything. If so, a cursory look at add/remove says
nothing about Bing.
I'm not making this up and would now be lost without the Win7 machine.
I've tried dealing with this for a few days and can only submit it to the
collective wisdom of the list. Thoughts, anyone?
till the next Heartbleed, Bugbear, Doomsday or Michaelangelo Virus!
Regards, Max.
