HI Morné,
Here is my previous post on the topic:
Hi
Shannon,
I have found that some programs that I can access with the numpad mouse
control in
windows 7 are not accessible on windows8
I would suggest that if you have your own computer at work, that they
can update
your computer with dual boot option.
By so doing, you can boot up in windows 7 and you can continue working.

Hello,
I am going to be updated here at work to Windows 8. I am using WE 8.4.
In reference to mouse functions. Please fill me in as to the limitations
of the mouse.
Does it ONLY NOT work in the browsers?
I just thought about it and I use the mouse find key a lot, in my
programs. I use
them to find different icons that are not part of the menu bar in our
accounting
program.
If I lose the ability to use the mouse I will really be lost.
If the mouse doesn't work at all in Windows 8 Does the Hot Spot become
the replacement
for the mouse functionality. Requiring me to set up lots of the "hot
spots" that
will allow the mouse to find the icons and click them for me?
Thank you all for the pointers. If there are any other special
instructions that
I should know about installing WE on Win 8 please let me know. I have
searched GW
support about windows 8 and it seems to be pretty straight forward. The
only special
setting I could find was disabling the start screen for logging in.
Learning Win 8 sounds like it will be a challenge at the least.
I have also heard about running win 8 in something called "Desk Top
Mode", Does this
make WE work better or Worse. I was told that it makes Win 8 act a lot
like Win 7.
Will this make using Win 8 easier with windows eyes or does WE fight
with this configuration?
Thanks again
Shannon

Hi Michael
I don't know about windows 8.1, but I did give up on windows 8.
The symptom that you mentioned, that sometimes window eyes would work
and sometimes
not, I found unacceptable.
For me, reading with the numpad using firefox internet explorer, and
other programs
was not functioning;
I also had other issues, that made me revert back to windows 7.
I just read recently, that Windows 7 will be serviced by microsoft
until 2020.
Perhaps by then, the current bugs in window eyes or windows itself will
be rectified.
For those of you in the market for a new computer.
I strongly recommend, that you make sure that the seller will return
your money back
if you are not satisfied.
Stay well,
Manny

Hi, all. I hope I can explain the subject of this e-mail. Get ready

be a long read, smile.
Ok. Here's what's happening. Monday I upgraded my desktop pc running
Windows 8
to 8.1 and am running Window-eyes 8.3. Somehow my Windows 8.1 was set
to a Microsoft
account which required a log on password. I didn't want a password
because my laptop
running Windows 7 64 bit isn't set up that way. I was out of town until
Thursday
night. I tried a password I remembered earlier today and got logged
into Windows
8.1 and Window-eyes 8.3 using narrator. With the help of Microsoft's
accessibility
hotline I was able to have Windows 8.1 set to a local account without
needing a reset
of Windows 8.1.
Now, however, when I open my users folder, I can navigate by first
letter navigation,
but pressing the up or down arrow keys won't read the list of items in
the folder.
Nor can I use the up or down arrow keys on the desktop to read the
items, thus, for
example, I cannot read the options to shut down, restart, sleep, etc.
Sometimes
the numbpad keys work in c-cleaner to check for updates and sometimes
they don't.
Gw Micro asks for details, and I hope I provided enough of them, smile.
I hope someone
can help.
Mike M.

Hello list,

This might be a bit off topic. The unavoidable is approaching -- I
can upgrade to a new computer at the end of June. What advice can you
give in order to make the switch from Windows 7 to 8 smooth? And how
is WE with Windows 8?

Thanks for your help.
