Since you state, you have already played with the Extended Dictionary,
and found it troublesome I welcome yu to contact me offlist. Any
feedback that could lead me to exterminate lacks and bugs in the app,
will greatly be appreciated. Since there may be many parameters that
will determine to what extent the Extended Dictionary will have an
impact on your computer experience, I will need to know more about
exactly what you found troublesome.
It is a known thing that the app seems to slow down activity in
listviews. Unfortunately, it partially depends on the way this kind of
windows are handled by Window-Eyes itself. Still, there is a few things
that can help a bit, like minimizing the entries in the actual
dictionary of yours for the given window. Further, your computer
resources could be limitted, hence the app may seem too much for your
computer. This especially has been noticed on netbooks with low resources.
The app is under continuous consideration, and the new version is under
development soon as the current is out the door, all the time. Hopefully
an updated version will be released this fall, and there will be a few
new goodies. Yet, if anyone have feedback that will spot certain lacks,
I am always receptable for any constructive feedback. Just telling me it
slows down your system, unfortunately does not tell me much. The app
holds a few thousand lines of coding, and exactly what slow-down you
mean, may help me determine where I need investigate in the code.
Something can be fixed, others will unfortunately have to be on the list
for later investigation when a workaround has been found.
Once again, for all users of the app, feel free to contact me off-list
for further discussing of your issues, should you have any. To those who
has already used this opportunity, thanks for all your feedback. Many a
bug has been straightened out due to good and constructive communication
with the users.

It is my sincere hope that Gw Micro will make major changes in
Window-eyes 9 to the exception dictionary's very limited functionality.
For example, I use Thunderbird for email. And particularly on the
Mailman lists, you are likely to hear from fields such as: "John Doe a b
c 12345 at Gmail dot com via blindtech ." Then of course, the word
"blindtech" is repeated in the subject line surrounded by brackets,
presumably for those who don't have a clue as to what listss they are
subscribed to and can't be bothered learning how to use filters.
At any rate, if GW doesn't change the exception dictionary, then I
wonder whether it is possible to modify the set file such that only the
first 15 letters of the from field would show, and the rest could be
silenced. Incidentally, I played a bit with the extended dictionary,
but it tended to slow down my computer significantly.
I would be interested in thoughts of other list members.
