Open Windows Explorer with Windows+E.
Go to Tools, Folder options, View tab, Advanced settings.
Cursor down to Use check boxes to select items and uncheck it.
Tab to the Apply button and hit space bar.
Then Shift-Tab back up to the OK button and do the same.
Close Explorer and you should be all set.

Have a computer here with Windows 7 pro on it. Running latest version of

When going to the desktop, and moving around on the icons, I hear things
like:
     "Computer, Checkbox Checked",
     "Firefox, Checkbox Checked",
     "Thunderbird, Checkbox Checked";'

and so forth.

My issue is, how do I get rid of this Checkbox Checked info on each
icon. I have never heard it happen, neither on XP machines, nor on
Windows 8.1 machines, not even on the Windows7 HP notebook I have here.
It only happens on this Windows7 Pro machine. OK, then this is a 64-bit
version of Windows, but so is the Win8.1 machine, on which it does not
happen. It is useless, in my opinion, and I wish I had a way to get rid
of it.

Anyone else had this issue, and know a fix? I ran a clean installation
of the screen reader, when the machine arrived, so did not think there
would have been any conflicting settings either. Puzzled and frustrated,
