If you use Control-P to open the Preferences of GWConnect, and choose the Devices tab, which is furthest to the right, you'll find combo boxes for choosing the default input and output devices; ensure that your headset mike is the default input device. Note that GWConnect adjusts its level automatically, and it is not possible to change this behaviour.
