Hi Rod,
I wrote a little app called "Windows Annoyances", and one of the things it
corrects is the loss of focus for the listview of files in a windows
explorer window.

Since then, I haven't had this problem, and I think Brendon may be correct
in suggesting the preview pane (it may be causing the loss of focus).

So, if anyone is still losing focus even though preview pane is not checked,
you could try the Windows Annoyances app to see if it solves it.

Chip

Hi Jed,

I used to be concerned about behaviour like this
in my Windows 7 machine, until I realized that,
actually, all that was happening was that the list
of files hcommonly lost focus. Try pressing tab,
and then shift tab, back to the explorer list, and
then try your arrow keys again to navigate.

Hth,

Rod

Subject: windows explorer issue

Hey guys,
I seem to be ahving this problem more and more,
and need some help with
a solution. When i bring up my computer, and go
to a folder, i can
depress the enter key on that folder, then it'll
hang in the list of
files for some unknown reason. It does this with
many folders.
So i hit alt f4, and it says close the program
button, or wait for the
program to respond button. So i click on close.
Then when i go back to my computer, press enter on
it, this is what i get
It'll play the dong sound and say, windows
explorer, the remote
procedure call failed but did not exicute. The
only solution i ahve at
that point is to do a reboot.
My question is, why would it hang up when entering
a folder of files?
There is no logical reason for that happening.
I'm running a windows 7
machine with plenty of memory. Any thoughts?
