Please try turning off protected mode in Adobe Reader XI, you do this by opening the program, going to edit with control E, arrow down to Preferences, open that and go to the tree view option Security (Enhanced). And turn off all the checkboxes in this dialog, close out of that dialog box, Then say yes to the messages that come up, quit out of Adobe Reader XI and then open your file again.
