I’m currently using Window Eyes 8.4 on a Windows 64-bit laptop with a numeric
keypad. I just installed Skype on it today. I had used Skype on my old Windows
Vista laptop, and on an XP laptop before that.
I could swear that I told it to sign me in when Skype starts, but no, I have to
sign in every time I open the program. And the program will not close. I have
to go into the Task Manager and force it to close. Even if I sign out, the
program will not close, either with alt-f4 or the Close option on the System
menu. Skype doesn’t appear on my Desktop, or even in my Start menu under All
Programs. I have to hit the Windows key and bring up the Search and type in
Skype every time I want to load it; that is, after I have to force it to close
when I’m not using it. Otherwise, I have to cycle through it every time I
alt-tab through my open windows. I cannot find any choice in the Options menu
to sign in automatically when I start the program, or close the program when I
sign out, or just to let me close the program without signing out the way you
can with GW Connect.
Does anyone know how to whip this thing into shape? I do have Compact View set.
But that doesn’t fix the annoyances I’ve got. At least I can use it, sure, but
GW Connect was so much better. I miss it already and it isn’t even officially
dead yet.
Thanks for any advice.
Evan
