Janet, I am assuming that when you say you can't "proof" a message you mean that you don't hear anything when you use the ARROW keys. Does this mean all four arrow keys? Does the backspace key speak the characters being deleted?
Have you tried maximizing the screen with ALT-SPACE followed by X? When you have a window open with a message that you are composing, have you tried having Window-Eyes detect the cursor? The default key to do this is CONTROL-INSERT-C. What does it say when you do that? Have you tried pressing your SCROLL LOCK key? I am not aware of this causing a problem with Windows Live Mail but it has in other cases. If you press it and nothing changes, press it once more to return it to its original state so it doesn't break something else. Try turning all apps off to make sure that some other app is not having a negative affect. You can do this from the Window-Eyes Control pannel by pressing ALT A to bring up App Management, Select App Status and press ENTER, then arrow to "OFF" and press enter. The curent status is checked but this is not a check box to pressing SPACE doesn't work. Remember to turn them back on if turning them off doesn't make a difference. Also, if you hear that "OFF" is already checked, you probably should try turning them on instead. However, I have not found that the Windows Live Mail app is responsible for the arrow keys working, so it is more likely that if apps are involved, another app is interfering. Which version of Internet Explorer are you using? There is a relationship as Windows Live Mail uses Internet Explorer some. Are you having any trouble using the arrow keys when you are in an edit box on a web page? Again, there can be a relationship.
