Alice said that Window Eyes is now part of aisquared who also own Zoomtext. This week our Zoomtext stopped working, too. Is Microsoft still providing WindowEyes for free? The other thing that has been happening is problems with our TypeWell software that we use for captioning classes for students who are deaf who don't do sign language. We got all new Dell laptops for that and they keep freezing up and won't run the TypeWell software. The techs at PSCC say that Microsoft has some new malware-preventing program installed on new computers that may be interfering with the TypeWell software. If PSCC installed new computers in the open labs and classrooms that have this malware prevention on them, do you think that could be interfering with WindowEyes or ZoomText on the PSCC network? I was wondering if you are on any list-servs or other online forums that have mentioned issues with this kind of stuff on new Dells or other Microsoft software users.

Thanks.

Ann

Well, there shouldn’t be anything wrong with it. When I have ran window eyes on the computers in the labs, and the computer we have, I have seen no problems, except with word on the computer we currently use. The technitions in there e-mail did not have a detailed description of the problems, except to say that it is not working. Judging by the email, it sounds to me like the case of blame it on the screen reader. There should in theory. be anything wrong with window-eyes and any of the computers it is installed on. I would like to know more aobut there problems however.

Hi Darrell,
What do think is up with Window Eyes and PSCC’s standard software load?

I’m following up on this by calling GW Micro. By the way GW Micro is now part of the aisquared family.

Alice,

We are having numerous reports of conflict with the Windows Eyes software and our standard load. Unfortunately we will need to remove from our instructor stations, and probably various other labs. I will keep you updated, but please do not expect to see this as part of our standard software load. The actual conflict has not been determined, except that when we remove the package, all other software works great. Lois
