Hi Dave,

If you press the LeftControl and LeftShift keys simultaneously, with no
additional keys, do you hear "Layout changed"?
Under Windows 7, this key combination switches the keyboard layout to a
different language.
See if pressing the key combination several times gets things back to
normal.
If so, there's a knowledge base article about this:

Good luck,

Rod

Subject: NUM lock issue

Hi,
I'm having a very frustrating issue where it appears that the numblock
key is turning on and disabling my mouse pointer. It makes it act as if
the arrows in the home and end key as well as page up and page down are
like the regular ones on the keyboard so the mouse is not controlled. I
end up having to press the alt shift NUM lock combination to tell
Windows not to activate mouse keys that seems to release the hold. But I
can't figure out what's triggering it and I'm not sure how to reset my
keyboard or something through Windows. I've also noticed that the scroll
lock key is not voiced when I push it. I'm not sure if that means it's
disabled somehow. Not that anybody ever uses it anymore, but I found
that interesting.
Any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated ASAP.
Thanks, Dave
