Good catch, Steve. That's right. Be it that these are cursor keys as
opposed to hot keys the program will receive them and Window-Eyes will
try to do what they're assigned to do. In this case, speak highlighted text.
Out of curiosity I just tried Shift-Left and Right arrows in my
Thunderbird inbox and nothing was voiced. So this just might be an easy
way out.

Functions, and turn Cursor keys on and off.
Otherwise a hot key would have to be scripted to toggle this setting.
Alternatively you could associate a set file with each of these programs
and undefine the Shift-Arrow cursor keys if they're not used by the
program for standard selection. And if they are used in an edit window
and the title or class are different for the two windows you could
associate a set file with the window within which you don't want those
cursor keys and undefine them within that file.
