If that doesn't work, then do the follow. Hold down the home button. If siri is
activated and comes up, tell it to turn on VoiceOver. Sometimes pressing the
home button three times does not enable VoiceOver.

You can enable VoiceOver by pressing the home button 3 times and it should
turn VoiceOver on. There is a website that may be able to help you.

  http://www.applevis.com

You can also call Apple's accessibility line at, 1-877-204-3930

    Hi,

Yes, this is off-topic, and I'm appealing (not Apple-peeling smile) to all
you IPhone owners who have been using these devices for years.

I will be laying my hands on a second-hand IPhone 4S shortly, and I know
very little about how to use touch gestures to navigate these devices.

Can you please suggest a good tutorial series for me as a blind person?

Indeed, since the device might not even be given to me with VoiceOver
enabled, is there a way for me to enable it on my own, or is this something I
should ask a sighted person to do for me?

    Thanks so much,

    Rod
