Just a slight correction, the version number is 9.0, but it's the second
beta of it, so it's 9.0, beta 2.
As for it being safe to install, it's pretty stable. If you do a lot of
copying and pasting of info on websites, though, the way to do that has
changed significantly. for me at least, it's not always reliable. So if
you do a whole lot of that, or if something like that is
mission-critical to stuff you do every day, you might want to wait until
that's a little better. I've seen a couple other folks having problems
with this too so if that's important to you, you may want to hold off
until the next beta, or the final release of 9.0 is released.
