Yes: the only conclusion that I have come to is that perhaps my 8.1 update
did not properly complete. I have learnt over the years with Windows that
thing under its bonnet are not quite what they should be - getting more
unstable and more complex with each new release.

Best.

Vaughan.

Hi Vaughan,

You mean that you performed a Windows Update and now the menu is permanently
anchored on your screen or something of that nature?

Thanks,

Rod

It does now: having just brought Windows up-to-date.

Rod: thank you for your interest.

Hi Vaughan,

But does not pressing Windows-X bring up the menu you want?

Hth,

Rod

Yes: just not sure how to get it back.

It was a list member who advised of this command when I indicated that I was
having difficulty with Window-Eyes focus whenever ctrl-alt-del were pressed.

Will keep hunting.

All the best.

Hi Vaughan,

I'm still on Windows 7 x64, but a quick google revealed that pressing the
key combination Windows-X is what you need, I believe. smile

Seasons greetings,

Rod

Subject: Windows-X

Hi everyone.

Prior to a hard drive failure, my Windows 8.1. had the command which gave me
a menu type structure to access features such as shut down, the control
panel, command prompts etc. This was the Windows-X command, very accessible
to Window-Eyes.

Now I have a completely new windows install, and have lost my Windows-X
command.

Can someone please advise how I get it back?

In appreciation.

Vaughan.
