Hi Brendon,

Having looked into the matter a bit further, I notice that, in Windows 7
64-bit Home Premium, the position which allows for the best security and yet
greatest accessibility is, as I've said, a setting of one of three, and I
notice that the setting has the additional description of "Do not dim my
desktop."
On another computer of mine, running Windows 7 Ultimate, I notice that the
slider is set to two of three, and yet I had no problem reading the UAC
dialog when it came up.
Anyway, this is just further info for your and others' benefit.

Cheers,

Rod

Hi rod,

Yes, I understand that, I don't use UAC though on any of my computers here.

Thank you though.

Brendon Donohue.

Hi Brendon,

I do think it's important to read the UAC dialog since it may be alerting
you to malware which is seeking permission.
The problem is that there is a UAC setting which dims the desktop and makes
it impossible or at least very diffuclt to access the dialog information.
Perhaps someone can explain in detail the best position of the slider which
allows for greatest accessibility.
There is such an ideal setting in Windows 7, and I cannot speak to Windows 8
or 8.1, but I assume it's the same.
Basically, you want to set it so that the desktop is not dimmed when UAC
comes up.
On my system, Windows 7, the trackbar must be set to the first position,
that is, it reads as "one of three."

Hth,

Rod

Yes,

This is correct for all versions of Windows that have UAC.

Thank you.

I don't know about windows 8, but in windows 7, if you just hit alt y when
you hear the UAC sound, the program will continue installing.
