Melissa, I am assuming that the PBS.ORG streaming page is the same regardless of which station one chooses. What I found is that once you have selected the show you want, you can turn browse mode off and tab or SHIFT TAB until you find a "custom Control." once you are on that control, you should press the UP ARROW a few times because for me the volume starts out all of the way down and the UP and DOWN ARROWs control the volume. In my case, since the volume was all the way down, I didn't know the show was playing. As I recall, the UP and DOWN ARROW keys that control the volume wrap around, so if you reach the maximum volume the next press goes back to the minimum, so be careful to push the UP ARROW perhaps twice and then try to get the video to play. Once it is playing you can get the volume turned up all the way. I believe you press SPACE to start and stop playing the program.
If this isn't enough to help you get it working, let me know and I'll go back into the site and try to be more specific. I listened to all of the Roosevelts series that way and some of the "How we Got to Now series." I figured this out quite by accident, it is not obvious at all in my experience. Now that I know what to look for, though, it seems to work reliably.
