I looked through all the messages relating to this issue and feel that my two cents may help.
If you choose, you can use a single letter as the name for your number stored in memory. Once you have stored it, it remains available without using the recall function. If you have stored the number 7 in the memory using the letter a, you can then go out of the calculator and back in and type a plus 6 and receive, after pressing enter, the result 13. In other words, you can recall and use an element in memory without using the recall. Once you have your new number, you can put it back into memory either as a new memory letter or as the one that is already being used. So, if you had your account balance stored in memory under the letter b and had used your debit card at the store, you could easily redo and replace your balance by doing the following. Open the calculator. Type b minus, say 32.34. Then, once you had your new balance, you could store it in b again by doing a backspace s and then a b. . I hope this is clearer than mud. The manual isn't written that well. The only way we found out how to do a memory was experimenting, once we found out there was so a thing as the memory. We don't know how many memories you can have, but if you put in a letter, you can save your calculation to it. However, we don't see a way to put the calculation in the main frame to do the next figure. We thank you and appreciate all the help you give us, Sis. Living in the Present One day at a time, This is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past. For it is gone. And do not be troubled about the future. For it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful. That it will be worth remembering. > ----- Original Message ----- >From: Rhonda Stogner <[EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: [email protected] >Date sent: Tue, 15 Jul 2008 17:34:50 -0800 >Subject: [GWN] Calculator >Hello Sharon, Chuck and List: > Well, (smile), I have thoroughly read section 15. What I found is the following: > From File Manager, press U. At the "calculator ready" prompt, press Enter. After you have done your calculation functions, press Enter. I wound up copying my result to the clipboard with I Enter. If I did Backspace with S, I got the "item name" prompt. I didn't see anything in the variable calculator that gave me a momory prompt. > Go to your "accounts", or whatever you call it. When you need to enter your calculation, press V with Enter. > When you need to calculate again, go to your "account" file to see your last entry so that you can enter it into the calculator. > I know this isn't much help, but after reading section 15, I don't see it.
