Hello. i can confirm your first finding, but not the second.

I have noticed that if you find a recurring schedule using subject instead of
date, you are not given the option of deleting a single occurrence.
Also, if you delete a single occurrence of an appointment when it becomes due,
you can still find it when searching by subject even though it is deleted.
