I do Bookshare all the time as well, but the problem comes when rfbd is the only place I can get textbooks. Unfortunately, they only have DAISY books, not text-only as well.

Have a great day,
Alex

Alex,

If you are a braille reader as well as use speech output, I would
believe that RFB AND D would give the same options as Bookshare when it comes to downloading the format of book that you want. So, you may have to download RFB AND D books in the BRF FORMAT, BUT YOU WILL STILL HAVE SPEECH OUTPUT TO READ THE BOOK USING THE Braille Sense as well as braille output. I hope I'm making sense. I download a ton of books from Bookshare on my Braille Sense original and store them on a huge CF MEMORY CARD.

I see. That is a shame as my Pictor Vibe is really thinking
about biting the dust and I was hoping to just use a BSP AND A
really big cf card to take care of my RFBD NEEDS AS FAR AS
textbooks and the like.

Have a great day,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I have a BS Original. I find on this model that trying to play
daisy formatted books is a waste of time, because it comes out
all garbled. Now, if I download books in the BRF FORMAT FROM
Bookshare and open it in a word document, the braille and speech
turn out really well. So if I were you, download books from
Bookshare in the BRF FORMAT, OPEN IT IN A WORD DOCUMENT FILE,
AND
YOU'LL BE SET TO GO.

ar Hi all,
ar Will the BSP SUPPORT DAISY BOOKS FROM RFBD? If so, how is
loading
ar them? The bn, for example, takes a long time to load even
ar Bookshare daisy books, even longer to close them, and will
ar usually not save your place in a daisy book, plus navigation
is
ar sluggish (not unbearably so, but it is noticeable).

ar Have a great day,
ar Alex
