[GWN] repeat characters

Hi:
Is there a way to have the bs only say the first 3 characters in a series? 
For example I get emails where the author creates dividers by using a line 
of 65 * or dashes or other annoying sounds. Perhaps I could turn punctuation 
off but then I'd have to put it on again to read the propper punctuation of 
things.
