[GWN] a dull ding whilst reading an email

I was reading an email with my VS.  During the read I heard a 
dull dinging sound and then the VS locked up! A reset got it 
working again, however, the same thing happened reading that 
email.
Any ideas what this is?
Has anyone had this happen?
