Hi.  Did you try smtp.live.com I'm not sure if this is part of the problem,
but I discovered this setting last week and was able to make it work with a
mobile device.  As far as I know the port is 25 and you need SSL for both
pop an smtp.  Do you have a checkbox for authentication as it relates to
SMTP?  You might want to try that if there is such a thing in theVS/BS+.
