You don't need special software on the phone. The service is called "DUN" for Dial UP Networking. But before you can do anything, though, you need to have a data plan in your wireless account. With AT&T, it seems to be independent from other cell phone accounts you have, and is something like $60 a month. With them, using the phone as a modem is called tethering.
