Don't delete your old favorites folder, just rename it. Then start the web browser and it will create a new one. Finally copy those favorites you want from your original favorites folder into the new one. Don't just overwrite the entire folder, but copy the items from the old one into the new one. The only ones you might overwrite are those which will exist in both the new and old. If you do copy and paste, you should be asked for each item copied if there is already a n item with that name in the new folder.
