Well, grin, in my case, I do believe it was the browser causing my problem.
For, although I had done a hard reset over the weekend for other reasons and
thus my user agent was already set to the default Windows CE when I checked
things out tonight, I played around with the other two browser types and could
readily make the Google page crash after just one search and then only viewing
a page or two of the results with the user agent set to Windows XP. But, when
using the Windows CE agent, there were no crashes at all. Truthfully, I hadn't
paid much attention to which page loaded before, just kind of assumed it was
the main one, but I did check tonight and the mobile site loaded with all three
of the sites you gave. But, with the Windows XP browser, the classic site
loaded when I typed in the main Google URL. I'm further convinced I was using
the XP agent before, because I recall getting that multi line edit box before
the actual search box came up. I didn't get this extra box with the Windows CE
user agent, though. So, who knows how my browser setting got changed before,
although I guess I was experimenting with something and just forgot to change
it back. Thanks for solving the mystery!
