Hmmm ... my Braille Sense Plus works fine with a hard-wired cable modem.

Ah well.

  Hi Raul,

My router is set up to accommodate both a wpa2 and wpa setting. My settings
show that the router is set for wpa DSK (tkip) and wpa2 (aes). Either
connection should work. Since I'm on a high speed service, the router is
normally set for up to 300 MBPS. I need to change this setting to 54 MBPS
before the Voice Sense can connect. That's the only setting I need to change.
I have three possible settings, 54 MBPS, 145 MBPS and 300 MBPS. The VS cannot
connect at 145 bor 300 MBPS. the only way it works is with 54 MBPS. If I
lived by myself, I'd accommodate the VS part of the time by changing the MBPS
setting. My wife says we are paying for a high speed connection therefore, why
mess with things and slow everything else up! Therefore, the router setting
remains at up to 300 MBPS. The blindness notetakers don't keep up with this
speed at all and I don't care which one you name! A Sense notetaker user, Apex
User, and Icon Braille Plus user is out of luck with this connection speed.
All netbooks and laptops work with this 300 MBPS setting just fine! Until
somebody catches up with this, one is out of luck using blindness notetakers on
a cable high speed connection and maybe ATT high speed connection for that
matter. As I said, if I lived alone, I'd change the router setting on
occasion. Since I don't, I must leave well enough alone and find another
solution without disturbing the present router settings.

James, you can connect your Voice Sense if you change your home router to
using wpa instead of wpa2.

    Many thanks.

      Hello all!

I managed to upgrade my VS just fine! All is well as far as I can tell.
My wife may upgrade hers sometime today since I already have the files in place
on an SD card! An upgrade is usually an exciting event for me or at least it
use to be! My VS has been reduced to a glorified scratch pad or a spot where I
keep some important information and that's about it! our units won't work on
our Wy Fi which I wrote about previously! As I again pondered this, I was
wondering whether the vS could piggy back on a network connection created by a
PC? Sure! The PC would need to be up and running but maybe a suitable
connection could be created for the VS to work on! I'm finding the VS doesn't
work on high speed connections! Might there be a solution somewhere which can
bridge the gap so the VS could connect without compromising the connection
speed for our other computers? Would bluetooth be an answer? Just how could I
possibly connect to the internet again? It certainly doesn't work on its own!
