I agree, but I don't know how he could put a placeholder message in
there if he's going to stop the script after it's done the update check.

The script is designed to launch, check for a new version, and then
get out of Dodge. There's no need to access the help, because you'll
never get in quick enough to do it (unless checking for an update is
taking a long time for some reason). In other words, you are
experiencing exactly what I would expect.
