carefully went thru the installer , but haven't seen any options button and any checkbox for installing the Extras manager; probably was present in versions 3.x.

It was always a checkbox in the installer before.  I don't remember
seeing an installer without it, but that doesn't prove anything.  I
always hit the Options button, whatever it's called, to make sure I
see all the possibilities though.
